Councillor helps Cricket Club with funding for new mower

03/07/2026 by Digital Media

A local cricket club has secured its future for the season thanks to support from Nottinghamshire County Councillor Helen Faccio.

Councillor Helen Faccio recently visited Beeston and Toton Sycamore Cricket Club at Manor Park, Toton, to see a new electric mower purchased with the help of a £1,000 grant from her Nottinghamshire County Council divisional fund.

The club’s old mower urgently needed replacing, and without a new one there were concerns about its ability to maintain the pitch and outfield to the standard required for competitive cricket.

Councillor Faccio said: “Having a well-maintained pitch is vital for any cricket club. I was pleased to be able to support Beeston and Toton Sycamore Cricket Club and help ensure they could continue playing this season.”

The timing was crucial, with funding needing to be secured in time for the start of the cricket season.

During her visit, she was also invited to perform the coin toss ahead of an important match between the league’s top two sides. The club went on to win the game and move to the top of the league table!

The new mower will help maintain the club’s facilities and support cricket at Manor Park for years to come.

Councillor Helen Faccio also highlighted that she has a further £3,000 available through her divisional fund during this financial year for groups and local organisations in Toton, Chilwell and Attenborough.

Eligible groups interested in applying for funding can contact her at [email protected] for more information.
