Radcliffe Olympic Under 12 Eagles Soar to Cup Glory

04/06/2026 by Digital Media

Local young footballers are celebrating after the Radcliffe Olympic Eagles Under 12 girls team secured a stunning cup final victory in the Nottinghamshire Girls and Ladies Football League.

The Eagles were crowned winners of the Under-12 Cup 2 competition after an impressive 6-2 triumph over a strong Keyworth United Vipers side in the final, played on Sunday 26 April at the RH Academy in Mansfield.

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that nearly half of the squad are actually under the age of 11 and are competing a year above their age group.

Coaches, parents and supporters were full of pride following the success, with celebrations continuing long after the final whistle.

Among those celebrating was team sponsor Alex Commander, owner of Munn & Co Hairdressing in Radcliffe-on-Trent. It was a true family occasion, with team mascot Mabel cheering on her auntie Darcie, who proudly lifted the cup – whilst also supporting her grandparents, Ally and Chris, who help coach the team.

The squad, coaches and families later gathered at The Radcliffe pub for an impromptu celebration to mark the special achievement.

The Eagles are supported by local sponsors, Munn & Co Hairdressing, NLight, ESPER 3D Scanning and Multi-Camera Equipment.

Manager, Chris Charlton said: “The cup win reflects the hard work, dedication and team spirit shown by the players throughout the season.”
