Performance Mentor joins the ranks at West Bridgford Tennis Club

05/09/2022 by Digital Media

Coach Andy Higham is to join West Bridgford Tennis Club as the brand new Performance Mentor on the Masters programme, from September this year.

The Club runs a full and comprehensive programme every term with lessons to suit all ages and abilities.

Head Coach Jack Large, has developed the whole programme since he started at the Club in 2021 and feels that to employ a Performance Mentor is the logical next step.

The Masters lessons are for those sports girls and boys who are excelling in their tennis and Jack is keen that this group of young players should have even more support to fulfil their potential. These invite-only Masters sessions will be the way to achieve this.

Andy has been a coach for over 10 years since starting his coaching journey right here at the club! From age 16 he helped with sessions at the weekends as one of our youth helpers and has since go on to coach at University at Exeter, Gosling Tennis Academy and University of Nottingham. He hopes to progress the tennis careers of our young players after his own tennis career started in our squads from 6 years old and went on to play international tennis all over the world.

Jack said “I’m thrilled to have Andy on board. I want West Bridgford’s Masters Programme to be the best around. We aim to create better players who will be keen to take part in competitions and play at County level”

As Performance Mentor Andy’s main focus will be:

• To be the point of contact for Masters’ players

• To devise and introduce Masters’ movement sessions to complement the programme

• To devise and deliver player / parent workshops
