
Thanks to the local community Notts Derbys Hemlockstone Lions have recently collected and dispatched another 1650 pairs of spectacles. They are collected as part of the Lions Clubs International British Isles Spectacle Recycling Initiative, launched originally by the Lions Club of Chichester in 1967, today it sees nearly a third of a million pairs of used glasses collected, sorted and distributed to clinics and eye camps in communities across the world. Collection boxes can be found at:-

St. Mary’s Church Attenborough ,Stapleford Care Centre and Beeston Parish Church.

Other activities in the next few months will include our annual Easter Egg Raffle in local pubs and clubs in support of Notts/Lincs Air Ambulance – last year we made an amazing £1465!
On Sunday. May 3rd, we are sponsoring a concert by Nottingham Concert Band – ‘Keep Smiling Through’, a musical tribute to mark VE Day, 75 years on. This will take place in the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Beeston. The performance will start at 3.00pm and proceeds are in aid of the Lions charities.
