On St. George’s Day, representatives from over 30 local organisations gathered to celebrate Gedling Borough’s voluntary and community groups.

The event was organised by Gedling CAN (Community Action Network) to say thank you to the borough’s volunteers, trustees and staff members for all that they do. The Mayor of Gedling, Councillor Kyle Robinson-Payne, opened the event by thanking attendees for the ‘vital support that community groups offer to residents.’
Many of the groups in attendance brought along activities to share, from Gedling Play Forum’s Swing Ball to Rika ACE’s Natural Cordage Making. Work ‘n’ Diversity organised a ‘Networking Bingo Prize Draw’ to encourage attendees to connect with each other and explore opportunities for partnership working.
The day ended with a ‘Voluntary Sector Showtime’ which included Circus Skills with Dice and Balls and Seated Chair Exercises with Pulp Friction. Sam Culshaw- Robinson, from the Art of Nature Wellbeing Walks, said, ’What a great day! It is so uplifting to be amongst such positive energy!’
Gedling CAN aims to connect local community and voluntary organisations so they can share expertise, resources and information.
