Last September we held the first ‘Broxtowe Green Festival’ at Inham Nook bowling green and it was a huge success!
Following on from that, we decided to host another one at Round Hill Primary School on Saturday 23rd April. We invited a lot of the same stallholders but also some new ones including Helene Laaneste from Canopy 2050, The Waste Less Shop from Chilwell Road, Nottingham Youth Climate Assembly and more!
It was great to see local people, local businesses and various groups & organisations chatting together. There were lots of activities for children including bug hotel making, wild yoga, wildflower seed bomb making and more…
We also had some great speakers – Alan Simpson is always wonderful to listen to; he reminded us of the urgent need to do things differently and cited various inspiring examples of communities & countries who are doing some really exciting things. Nottingham University lecturer Martyn Poliakoff also spoke about climate change and what we can do to address the situation.
Nottingham Youth Climate Assembly were also there talking about their wonderful project; they are hosting a climate assembly for 15-18 year olds at Nottingham University on the 9th & 10th July. Young people will have the chance to listen to experts, deliberate over solutions and present these solutions to local policy makers. They are also looking for 16-25 year olds to form their monthly youth panel & help design the content of the assembly weekend. For more information, please contact [email protected]
