Good Companions are a small, local Clifton-based charity which aims to support people who are experiencing loneliness or social isolation. We run five weekly friendly groups in the Clifton, Wilford and Silverdale areas, and also offer a Home Visiting Scheme for people who are house-bound or struggle to leave their home.
We are run by a voluntary management committee who employ three part time staff. These are supported by a team of volunteers who are an essential part of providing our activities. We currently have a volunteer vacancy on the management committee as Secretary, as well as a need for additional volunteer support within our friendship groups and the Home Visiting Scheme. Our volunteers tell us that they feel a sense of great satisfaction in supporting our services, and that voluntary work can increase their confidence. We offer volunteer support, training and events. If you would like to find out more about volunteering with us please call Sarah on the below number or below number or email [email protected].
We do not receive any support from Government sources so all of the funds we need to run our Charity are from businesses, local organisations and personal donations. If you would like to help organise an event or make a donation, please contact us on any of the numbers given.
As well as our groups and home visiting, we offer our service users and volunteers a wide range of activities, trips and fundraising events so there is much on offer to everyone who gets involved. These include regular trips to the pub for lunch, afternoon tea, picnics in the park and seasonal events at Easter, in the summer and at harvest time plus our much loved trip to the pantomime and Christmas parties.
