A very big thank you to everyone who supported the second Velo Belvoir on Sunday 25th June.
Nearly 150 cyclists joined us on a blisteringly hot day to cycle around the beautiful Vale of Belvoir in aid of two local charities.
The sun shone and shone, and the riders clocked up over 9,000 miles over three routes (30 miles, 60 miles and 100 miles). The cyclists all enjoyed the stunning scenery, quiet roads and the very well stocked feed stations. The addition of a donut stall near the end was especially appreciated by all. All the rides finished in Hose, where riders received their well-earnt medal and further refreshments.
We were particularly delighted to see so many repeat riders from last year and younger participants riding with their families. Photos of the day are available at www.velobelvoir.com and on the Velo Belvoir Facebook page.
Velo Belvoir is delighted to have made £2,000 to be split between Dove Cottage Day Hospice and Cropwell Bishop Friends of School.
The organising committee are very grateful to all the enthusiastic volunteers and riders who enabled the day to be so successful and such enormous fun.
Thank you also to No Two Cycles for the mechanical support and to Rushcliffe Borough Council and Melton Sports for the sponsorship. We very much look forward to welcoming you all back next year (Sunday 12th May) for more sunny cycling.
