“We really had a great time in Nottingham. All the children have had a lot of fun! Please thank the families on my behalf for taking such loving care of them” – Christel, Head Teacher
This is one of many compliments that Nottingham Host Families have received this year from overseas school teachers.
1,362 overseas school children and teachers have been hosted by local families so far this year, representing a total of 4,563 nights.
These school groups are part of overseas educational travel, visiting Nottingham for the children to experience English culture and places of interest.
Their purchases in local shops and entrance fees to local attractions help support our local economy as does the remuneration that families receive for providing overnight accommodation and meals.
“The children are here for 3 or 4 nights mid-week and out all day so it doesn’t interfere with work or weekends. It’s a really enjoyable experience for our own children too” one of the host families told us.
Asda West Bridgford provide space for the coaches to park overnight and acts as a pick-up and drop-off point for the families.
The children and teachers love to buy products to take home with them. Crumpets, lemon curd, teas and confectionery are all favourites!
Nottingham Host Families are already receiving bookings for autumn 2023 and spring 2024 from schools in France who are planning to bring groups of children to Nottingham.
