West Bridgford welcomes refugees from the 17th Century!

05/11/2022 by Digital Media

West Bridgford Dramatic Society (WBDS)’s next production is Mother Courage and Her Children. And we are bringing to life the experience of refugees – as told by Bertolt Brecht in his classic play about the thirty years war.

Mother Courage and her Children have been seen boarding a boat at Calais last night. Rumour has it she is heading for West Bridgford where she will share her stories: sometimes bawdy, sometimes funny but always overshadowed by perpetual war. If you spot this woman, do not approach, unless you have a Studio ticket. This woman may be armed and is always ready for a fight.

The director, Barbara Seymour said: “We are having fun in rehearsals, but also covering topics that are close to our thoughts at the moment with refugees from Ukraine – two of whom have joined WBDS in the past few months and even helped paint the set. We will be making a donation to the The Red Cross – who have helped our new friends settle into West Bridgford/England.”

The play is on between 23rd to 26th November 2022, at 7.30pm, and a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm. Tickets are £10 (£8.50 concessions) with £2 discount for tickets on open night. Call for season tickets or wheelchair access.

Box Office is open via Ticket Source https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/wbds. Please email the Box Office at  [email protected] or Tel: 07942 352982
