In the May issue of West Bridgford Local News, we asked readers to tell us about your creative endeavours born out of lockdown, here’s what two of you said:
Painting picture perfect
David Green has recently moved to Edwalton from Norwich, Norfolk. He has been painting for quite a while but the spare time during the coronavirus lockdown has allowed him to paint even more.
He said, “Since I retired and with an art background, I have begun to paint more.
“As a semi-professional artist my work sells mainly through local exhibitions and small galleries, two in Norfolk one in London.
“I am now planning to paint the Nottingham countryside, not the flat landscapes of Norfolk with big open skies.”

Local mum Becca Bradford from West Bridgford sparked some creativity during lockdown and began making some earrings to be sold online and at local craft fairs.
Becca said, “I started my small business Becksybee designs during the first lockdown. I had been a stay-at-home mum for 8 years, my youngest had started school and I was trying to decide what to do with my life!
“For my birthday I bought myself a pair of beautiful hand painted wooden earrings and I thought I could have a go at making some myself. I always loved making things out of fimo as a child so I thought I’d try to make earrings out of polymer clay. After three months of trial and error I launched my business at the Lady Bay Safari sale in the September. It was a great success and gave me the boost I needed. People seemed to love my earrings!
“Since then, I’ve been mainly selling on Etsy and online markets, but hope to start doing in person markets. I will be having a stall at the Lady Bay Safari sale on the 13th June, and have plans to start adult workshops and children’s parties once I’m able to.
“It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride so far, but above all it’s amazing to have something for me and to know people love what I’ve created.”
