2023 was a busy year for the WB RNLI (Lifeboats) fundraising team, with a wide range of different events throughout the year, including fairs, several collections across Nottingham, a Coffee & Cake morning in collaboration with the West Bridgford Youth Link, the Nationwide Mayday Mile initiative, a Ceilidh evening at the Poppy and Pint and more!
In total, the West Bridgford team raised an incredible £12,500 across 2023, all to be donated to the RNLI, a vital charity and institution dedicated to Saving Lives at Sea.
Fundraising carried on throughout winter – November saw the always popular Autumn Fair held at Lutterell Hall, featuring the sale of pre-loved items, homemade cakes and bakes, beautiful plants, jewellery, RNLI souvenirs, bottle tombola, a raffle full of fabulous prizes donated by generous local businesses.
The event was well-attended by the fantastic local community and raised an amazing £1900 for the RNLI!
In the lead-up to Christmas, the WB RNLI volunteers also braved the cold weather with two days of bucket collections at East
Bridgford Blue Diamond Garden Centre, raising a huge £1,532 in donations.
Just a few days later, in the pouring rain, the WB RNLI’s Jo Brazener and her son Noah went on to complete a sponsored 5k run, dressed as the RNLI Mascot, Stormy Stan, raising over £300!
2024 promises to be even more exciting, as it marks the 200th year since the establishment of the
RNLI in 1824. Events will be running Nationwide to celebrate this huge milestone, and the WB branch have lots of plans for the year ahead!
