Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, it has predominantly used volunteers in every aspect of their essential service, including raising the essential funds needed to operate this important institution.
The RNLI host an annual “Excellence in Volunteering” awards ceremony to recognise long service by its dedicated volunteers. After being on hold for a couple of years, on 1st July 2022, five of the West Bridgford RNLI team were recognised for an incredible 20 years of service to the RNLI; Allan and Ann Jordan, Graham Christian, Richard Hall and John Hawkins. An absolutely amazing achievement!
The event, held at the impressive Castle Howard in Yorkshire, was hosted by Eddie Donaldson OBE, Deputy Chairman of the RNLI. Volunteers from all over the region gathered, as a well-deserved thank you, and celebration of their contributions. Similar events were held nation-wide, as a reminder of the scale of the work of the RNLI.
A huge thank you from the WB RNLI to Allan, Ann, Graham, Richard and John on their many years of hard work! The WB branch continues to be very active in arranging fundraising activities, and could not do this without the support of our volunteers, and of course the fantastic local community who continue to donate generously!
