A very big thank you to everyone who supported the inaugural Velo Belvoir. Nearly 200 cyclists joined us at Hose on Sunday 8th May to cycle around the Vale of Belvoir in aid of two local charities.
The sun shone and shone, and the riders clocked up over 9,000 miles over two routes (a 28 mile and a 76 mile). The cyclists all enjoyed the stunning scenery and the quiet roads. Those on the longer cycle enjoyed exploring further afield and the very well stocked feed station (where they ate over 500 slices of homemade cake!). All riders finished in Hose, where they were warmly welcomed back and joined us for a celebratory post-ride BBQ. Photos of the day are available at www.velobelvoir.com and on the Velo Belvoir Facebook page.
Velo Belvoir are delighted to have made £3,000 to be split between Dove Cottage Day Hospice and Cropwell Bishop Friends of School. The organising committee are very grateful to all of the volunteers, bakers and riders who enabled the day to be successful and such fun.
Thank you also to Bishop Cycles for the mechanical support and to Rushcliffe Borough Council, Windmill Wheels, Belvoir Seeds, Keith Willis and Melton Sports for the sponsorship.
We look forward to welcoming you all back next year (Sunday 14th May) for more sunny cycling.
