Leap of faith in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association

04/07/2022 by Digital Media

A few years ago, Sally Agar wouldn’t have dreamed about climbing a ladder, never mind jumping out of a plane from 14,000ft due to her huge fear of heights!

However in 2021 her Dad, David McInerney was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and it turned the family’s life upside down.

David has lived in East Leake with his wife for over 40 years and worked as a Maintenance Manager at the local East Midlands Airport.

He was always such a strong, fun loving man who loved to talk. He loved to cycle, swim, ride his motorbike and spend time at his holiday home in Spain.

Since his diagnosis, all of these have been cruelly taken away as he has now lost his speech, finds it difficult to eat and breathe and is losing muscle strength day by day.

On Thursday 4th August, Sally will be travelling to Langar Airfield to take part in her first ever Tandam Skydive. She will be leaping out of a plane at 14,000ft and reaching speeds of 120mph! This day has special significance, as it’s also her Dad’s 73rd birthday.

Sally really wants to make a difference and after all the support her Dad has given her and the family over the years. She feels it’s her turn to do something in return.

She will be raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) and the initial target of £1,000 has already been smashed. Due to her success already, Sally is now aiming to make over £2,000 for the charity!
