Two local siblings take part in 70 mile cycle ride

30/09/2022 by Digital Media

Two siblings, who attend Abbey Road School in West Bridgford have recently undertaken a huge cycle challenge to honour the Queen’s Jubilee earlier in the year.

Evie, aged 5, and Finn, aged 8, cycled between 31st August and 3rd September for consecutive days on four popular cycle routes in the Peak district – The Monsal, Manifold, Tissington and High Peak Trails to achieve their 70-mile goal. Their longest single journey was 23.6 miles completed in less than 4 hours. During their adventure they tackled road cycling on the Manifold trail and the Hopton incline of the High Peak.

They were joined by their parents and passed the time singing and chatting together along the way.  Both the children are keen cyclists who participate in their school cycling programme, which has close links to Nottingham Clarion Bike Club.

The Wheeler family are already planning their next cycle challenge and hope to build on this year’s hard work.
