Trees planted throughout village

27/05/2022 by Digital Media

As part of the Queen’s Green Canopy to mark her Platinum Jubilee and in collaboration with the East Leake Parish Councils Tree Warden, children from the 2nd East Leake Scouts and their family and friends joined together in planting 120 hedge row saplings and a Cherry tree on the Oldershaw Park. A Birch tree was also planted on Meadow Park.

The trees and commemorative oak plaques (hand made locally to mark the occasion) were funded by donations from the Woodland Trust and local County Councillor Grants.

The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, were really enthusiastic and there were even signs that the next Monty Don might be found among them! Everyone involved can be really proud of their efforts in contributing to keeping the village looking great and making a valuable contribution to local wildlife habitats for decades to come.

If you’d like to volunteer with the Scouts and/or contribute to similar schemes in the village then let us know at [email protected] and [email protected].

Written by Richard Bines from 2nd East Leake Scout Committee.
