Tree Planting at Chetwynd Road Recreation Ground

28/12/2022 by Digital Media

The Mayor was joined by schoolchildren from the eco-club at Chetwynd Spencer Academy on the 25th November, to plant 15 native standard trees and 3,000 native bulbs and hedge plants.

The planting event was part of “The Queens Green canopy” initative, in honour of the Platinum Jubilee of the late Elizabeth II.

Following the wishes of His Majesty The King, The Queen’s Green Canopy has been extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant more trees in memoriam.

The trees will create a legacy in honour of the Queen’s leadership of the Nation which will benefit both the environment and visitors to the park for years to come.

A commemorative plaque was installed within the copse to mark the occasion.
