Tamizh Thinnai’s first community event in 2023

02/05/2023 by Digital Media

The Nottingham based south Indian Tamil Community called Tamizh Thinnai came together to conduct a fun filled Indoor Cricket tournament for the first time ever.

The main motto of the tournament was to bring the community members under one roof to socialise and have an entertaining day of cricket. Players, umpires, scorers and volunteers from all parts of Nottingham such as Beeston, Bulwell, Meadows, Clifton, West Bridgford and Sherwood came together.

The event started with a short introduction between the 6 teams followed by some fast and pacy indoor cricket games.

Six teams competed against each other in the initial round robin stages and 4 teams (Adengappa Eazhu Per, Adichuvuddu Eazhu Boys, Chennai Sooravalli Kings & Ponniyin Sevens) progressed to the semi-finals. It was Adengappa Eazhu Per and Ponniyin Sevens who were victorious in these games and moved on to the finals.

Adengappa Eazhu Per team from Meadows won the finals to clinch their winners’ cup for Indoor cricket tournament in 2023. All the players from all the 6 teams were rewarded with a participation medal while the winners and the runners up were awarded with their respective trophies.

This Indoor Cricket Tournament was organised to bring the community together and for them to take home a lot of cherished memories and new friendships.

The enthusiastic participation and the smiling faces until the end of day assured us that it was indeed a memorable day for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Indoor Cricket tournament and for making it a great success for the Indian Tamil community in Nottingham.
