On Sunday 26th March, the Radcliffe Olympic U13 Girls’ team visited Radcliffe Manor House wearing their away strip shirts sponsored by the Home. The team demonstrated a penalty shoot-out in the garden and despite the cold, there were 5 residents brave enough to come outside to watch. Other residents watched from the windows in the warmth.
The girls were also cheered on by staff, trustees of the Manor House, committee members and parents of the team. The Manor House donated a small prize to the winner of the penalty shoot-out, and afterwards the team enjoyed a well-deserved drink and cakes in the garden.
In the photo the team members from the left are: Charlotte, Delphi, Inza, Robyn, Sophie, Isla, Bethany, Isla, Charlotte, Rory, Olive & Ruby. The five brave residents are Bob, Angela, Helen, Pam & Brian. The team is currently 3rd in the league; they visited the home after a disappointing loss against Edwalton Cavaliers at Rushcliffe School, in the semi-final of the plate. They put up a fantastic show against the champions of the last 2 seasons and it was a close game until a rush of goals late on.
Of course the Girls are champions at Radcliffe Manor House and wear the Home’s logo with pride. Dom Baker of Radcliffe Olympic said: “We are delighted that the Manor House has sponsored the Girls’ team; the funds really help the team and the club, but more importantly, it’s a great way to get different generations together, we are all looking forward to returning during the warmer weather.”
Radcliffe Manor House is a beautiful grade II listed care home in the centre of Radcliffe on Trent where stimulation of residents is at the heart of the care provided.
John Rycroft, Chair of the Home’s management committee, said: “At the Manor House a varied and stimulating programme of activities is at the heart of our care for residents. We are sponsoring both Radcliffe Olympic’s U13 girls and U11’s boys teams in order to encourage interaction between older and younger members of our local community”.
To this end the Manor House invited the Girls’ team to show off their football skills; both the residents and the team had some fun, while the beautiful gardens managed to survive the kicking and thankfully no windows were broken in the making of this event!
Radcliffe Manor House is a charitable trust and is therefore a not for profit business and the sponsorship of local teams affirms our position in the heart of the community.
