The Garage in Chilwell is opening for the first time this year with a repeat of the weekly Farmers’ Market which ran successfully during previous lock downs during 2020.
It will be staged every Sunday throughout February running 10am – 2pm at the former bus garage on the High Road and will be open for essential shopping.
The event is designed as an alternative to the supermarket, with high quality products from more than 20 small, local businesses producing food, drink, plants and pet treats.
The Market brings the best in bread, patisserie, sweet and savoury pies, cheeses, charcuterie, loose leaf tea, spices, preserves and pickles. There’s also a few of those luxury items, still essential to keep your spirits up – including handmade chocolates, macarons, brownies and locally produced gin, ales and cider.
The line up will change slightly week by week and includes some brand new traders to The Garage this year. Loxley’s Larder with locally produced salamis and Lombardo’s Lasagne where you can buy the Italian signature dish in varying sizes for reheating at home. Thoroughly recommended when paired with their home cooked bruschette, Italian salads or tiramisù.
Two barista coffee traders will be attending for take out coffees, teas and hot chocolate.
If you’ve not visited before, you’ll find a staff member at the entrance, on hand to help you with advice on safety, one way system through the three large market halls, positions of hand sanitizer stations etc.
Social distancing should be practiced whilst browsing and there’s a reminder that this is a shopping event during lockdown
and as such shouldn’t be treated as a social gathering.
Once guidelines allow non essential retail, The Garage will run their usual format of a Sunday Fine Food & Craft market which will run on the first and third Sunday of each month.
