The video of a comic song has raised £1000 for the homelessness charity, Framework.
The basses of Bingham Choral Society filmed themselves singing a humorous song called ‘The Bingham Carol Singers’, which was written by their conductor, Guy Turner. The song tells of a visit by the worst carol singers in the world, so those taking part has to sing both well in the verses, and purposefully very badly in the carol choruses. Three different costumes were also required!
Each person filmed themselves at home and then the videos were edited together. The result was posted on the choir’s website, and choir members watched it and shared it with their friends. Donations were invited in aid of Framework, and these eventually totalled £1000.
Framework, the Nottingham-based charity offering shelter and support services to homeless people, has been a favourite cause for BDCS over the past several years and its work has become even more vital during the current public health crisis.
The choir’s conductor, Guy Turner, said, ‘This song was great fun to do, and very silly indeed. Everyone involved enjoyed doing it – it is such a great bonus to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause, while having fun!’
The song may be found at http://www.binghamchoral.org.uk/news-events/ and it is still possible to donate.
