Rushcliffe Country Park welcomes free cycling event on Wednesday August 10

09/08/2022 by Digital Media

Residents of all ages are invited to take part in a day free cycling activities at Rushcliffe Country Park.

The Summer of Cycling event takes place next Wednesday August 10 from 11am to 2pm and will include learn to ride sessions with British Cycling, bike maintenance and a minor repairs workshop with Dr Bike and a bike marking and registering session.

It’s all part of Rushcliffe Borough Council’s partnership with British Cycling and RideWise encouraging residents to get back on their bike and enjoy an even healthier and active lifestyle.

Residents can also pedal their way to make a smoothie on special bikes brought by The Smoothie Bike Company and no booking is required for any of the activities.

In addition, RideWise will have a range of their adapted bikes including low step-through bikes, tandems, trikes and hand crank cycles for people to try out.

The Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change Cllr Abby Brennan said: “It’s summer and what better time to visit our much-loved country park, take in the fresh air and come along to our event for a variety of cycling activities.

“As well as enjoying group cycling sessions, don’t miss out on the opportunity to protect your bike by getting it registered and marked for free by the community safety team.

“We welcome all cycling abilities, whether you are a beginner and want to gain confidence or are an experienced cyclist looking to meet other cycling enthusiasts.

“It’s the taking part that counts and we want to encourage residents to learn more about the sport and improve their health and wellbeing.

“With The Tour of Britain coming to Rushcliffe on September 8, this is a great way to get into cycling and even reduce your carbon footprint, which we encourage in line with our Carbon Clever priorities.”
