Proclamation in Burton Joyce

27/09/2022 by Digital Media

Following the proclamation of HRH King Charles III at the historic ceremony at St James’s Palace on Saturday 10th September, Burton Joyce Parish Council was honoured to take part in the wave of further proclamations across the country on Sunday 11th September.

The reading was delivered by Cllr Laurence King, Chair of the Parish Council at the War Memorial, attended by members of the public and representatives of the Parish, Borough and County Councils.

A statement published by the Parish Council following the announcement of the death of HRH Queen Elizabeth II read:

“It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 8th September 2022.

The Queen has been a constant presence in all our lives, setting an example and carrying out her duties on behalf of us with grace, dignity, respect and consideration for others.

Her enduring dedication and commitment to public service remains an inspiration to all.

It has been an extraordinary reign, and we give our thanks and condolences to the new King and the members of the Royal Family”.

The Union flag was raised during the period of accession and has been lowered to half-mast once again to mark the period of mourning.
