For two exclusive weekends this October, The Garage will be transformed into a Bavarian Beer Hall with the world famous Paulaner Oktoberfest bier taking centre stage alongside traditional German foods such as bratwurst and currywurst. Alongside a team of beer girls and one of the best Oompah bands in the UK, Oktoberfest at The Garage is set to be one of the best events of the year.
With close to 700 tickets already sold, it’s fair to say that the Oktoberfest beer festival is one of the most anticipated events of the year at The Garage, the old Bartons Bus headquarters in Chilwell. And there is no short of reasons why.
The organisers, Barton Bros. Limited, have always focused on making the event the best it can possibly be. So that means each year they fly over one of only 6 authorised beers that can be sold at the official Oktoberfest in Munich, the Paulaner Oktoberfestbier. This pilsner styled lager is made using the glacial waters found underneath Munich, and at 6% it is sure to get you in the stein clinking, bench swaying and song singing spirit!
“It has always been a really fun weekend”, organiser James Barton had to say. “The atmosphere is always brilliant. We spend the week before designing and rigging the set design and it makes all the difference during the festival. People have been asking all year when it was happening again so they could put it in their diaries. We’re thrilled we can finally bring it back along with some additional dates!”
The Garage – the site of the old Bartons bus headquarters in Chilwell will be staging their Evening Sessions on Friday October 14th and Saturday 15th, and the following weekend Friday October 21st and Saturday 22nd.
Each Saturday there’s a free Afternoon Family Session with live music, face painting and children’s games between 1pm-4pm.
Returning for a 4th year, The German Grill will be serving up their beautifully BBQed Bratwurst and Currywurst in addition to their flamed cooked smoked salmon adding to the event’s authenticity. They’ll have vegan and vegetarian options available too. Also returning this year is local baker Freudebakes, who will be rustling up Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte and Orange & Almond mini bundts for those with a sweet tooth.
And for those of you that aren’t fussed about beer, there is a full bar selling wines, spirits and soft drinks.
Oktoberfest Early-Bird tickets have already sold out for every Evening Session and once Standard Tickets have sold out there will be no more available.
The Garage is home to monthly events such as the Street Food Smoke-Up, The Garage Market, a monthly Comedy Club and Budapest themed Ruin Bar, as well as an upcoming slate of Christmas Markets and a themed Christmas Beer Hall.
