Newcomers will find a warm and friendly welcome at the West Bridgford Bowls Club’s free Open Day on Sunday 10th May between 12-4pm. Come for a chat over a cup of tea with members and have a go at playing Lawn Green Bowls!
The club has a number of Level 1 and Level 2 coaches so you can be guaranteed lots of support with your new bowling adventure. All the coaches bring enthusiasm and a sense of fun to teaching you. They will be there on the Open Day and offer continued coaching support afterwards if you wish.
“You don’t have to be coached but if people do want help to improve then that’s where we come in” said Linda, one of the new coaches who has been a member of the club for 8 years now. She continued: “The outdoor bowling season runs from April to September. It’s a great summer sport. I enjoy the exercise, being outside, being part of a team and learning how to play strategically.”
The club has over 100 members and offers opportunities to play competitively in a wide range of leagues. It also offers the opportunity to play three times a week against other club members. These games whilst still competitive are much more socially focused.
Joe Sheeham aged 32, came along to an open day three years ago. He said: “I’ve had fun and met great people. I’d never played before and left that day a lifelong bowler.”
No special equipment is required on the Open Day. Just wear comfortable clothing and trainers. People of all ages are welcome.

The club are located on Rectory Road in West Bridgford, (NG2 6BG). The site is shared with Musters Tennis Club. You’ll see the tennis courts from the car park so just head that way!
