Nottingham resident Claire Giles along with a small team of helpers are together volunteering their time to create over 10,000 full face shields for keyworkers in a bid to support the NHS.
Our keyworkers are so important to us, especially during a time like this. There is currently a shortage of protective equipment such as masks, eye protectors and full face shields. The face shields that Claire makes are 3D printed, they’re ideal for protecting the whole face, are comfortable to wear, durable and easy to sterilize between each shift.
3D printers can only print 6-10 of these at a time, but Claire and her team need more of the printers to keep up with the demand.
Claire says, “I am just a single mum, I have run a cleaning company for 27+ years and now find that, like many others, I am isolated. So I thought, what could I do with my time to help and support our NHS key workers.
“Unfortunately, I cannot afford to setup without help and support and I would need to buy more 3D printers to keep up with the demand.
“All of the Full Face Shields will be donated to keyworkers.”
Each mask costs around £1 to make, but as there are so many that are needed, Claire needs the kind support of donations to keep the project going. No donation is too small.
