Following a wonderful series of celebratory concerts for our 50th anniversary in 2022, culminating in a sparkling Jubilee ‘Last night of the Proms’ in Southwell Minster, the choir is now eagerly looking ahead to its first concert of the New Year.
This will take place in the Minster once again on 1st April 2023 where we will be joined by Southwell Choral Society and the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra to perform Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony.
There will be one very important change for the choir. We have had to bid an affectionate farewell to our Musical Director for the past seven-and-a-half years, Guy Turner, who has decided to take semi-retirement. Guy has inspired and guided the choir through an excitingly diverse range of music, often enriched by his own compositions. We will miss him but we count ourselves very lucky that Stephen Bullamore will be taking his place as MD. Stephen is a talented and experienced choral conductor. He is Director of Music (Master of the Song School) at St Mary Magdalene church, Newark, and has previously held posts at Guildford and Lincoln Cathedrals and Waltham Abbey.
Our rehearsals for the Jubilee concert series will begin on Wednesday 4th January 2023.
If you would like to sing with us, we offer a warm welcome and a three-week trial period for new singers (no audition). Rehearsals take place each Wednesday from 7.15 – 9.30pm at Carnarvon Primary School, Nursery Road, Bingham NG13 8EH.
