Follow-up Community Climate Forum: Thursday 26th Jan 6:30pm

14/01/2023 by Digital Media

Happy New Year! We hope you’ve all managed to have an enjoyable time over the Christmas period. Following on from the success of the first Community Climate Forum, we are holding a follow up event on Thursday 26th January from 6:30pm until 8:30pm at Round Hill Primary School.

The first forum was all about seeing which groups already existed in Broxtowe and then getting to know each other and chatting about our motivations and concerns. This next forum is a chance for the existing environmental / social justice groups to give a short pitch about: who they are, what they do, what they can offer and what they need help with. There will then be a chance for general networking and collaborating around our shared vision of trying to achieve fairer, happier, healthier communities.

The event is open to all, including young people. We had a wide range of groups at the initial forum – from Sharewear, whose vision is to provide free clothing and bedding to those in need, to ‘Feel Good Gardens’ which provides a place for people to connect with each other and nature… there should be something for everyone!

The buzz and energy at the first meeting were wonderful so we’d love to build on that. As Ayana Elizabeth Johnson says in her inspiring book ‘All We Can Save’: “Building community is a requisite foundation for building a better world.” We do hope you can join us.

If you can’t attend but want to know more, please email us at: [email protected]
