A brand-new defibrillator has been installed at the Beeston Rylands Weir Fields Recreation ground site thanks to a successful fundraising event, in a move to help save a life in case of emergency.
Back in July 2021, Broxtowe United FC hosted a charity football match alongside their incredible sponsors at ALB GROUP to raise funds for a new defibrillator to be purchased and installed at Weir Fields Recreation Ground for use by the local community.
The target was set at £2,000 to fund the purchase and installation of the defibrillator, the cabinet, lock and signage. The charity match, represented by dads, coaches and friends, had a huge response and managed to raise a whopping £2870 which enabled the club to donate £759.01 to the British Heart Foundation.
After numerous delays and issues with stock we are delighted to finally announce this has been fitted and is now available for use.
The defibrillator is based at Weir Fields Recreation Ground where Broxtowe United FC play their home matches alongside other local clubs and sports clubs, the machine will be available for the whole community.
A spokesperson for BUFC said, “We would like to thank ALB for your incredible support alongside Broxtowe Borough Council for fitting it, British Heart Foundation for sourcing the equipment, everyone who took part in the charity match and all those that donated.
Hopefully it will never be needed but it’s there just in case.
