Moore Osteopathy raising money for Cancer Research

01/06/2022 by Digital Media

Richard and Terry from Moore Osteopathy on Melton Road are scaling 10 of the highest peaks in the UK this summer to raise money for Cancer Research, a cause that is close to both their hearts. With close experience of cancer through family, friends and also patients at the clinic they have seen the impact cancer can have and wanted to find a positive way to help.

The first three of the 10 Peaks were completed at the beginning of May with the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – 24 miles within 12 hours. It was a busy day as they tackled Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Ghent and Whernside alongside many other climbers completing the challenge. They were lucky with the weather as it was a dry, sunny day and their final time to complete the route was 11 hours and 32 minutes. Richard Moore, principal osteopath and clinical director at Moore Osteopathy said, “It was much more challenging than either of us expected, but we persevered and were pleased to make it over all three peaks, as some other climbers had to miss out one of the peaks. It took a few days to fully recover! But we’re now dedicated to completing the rest of this challenge, as we know the pain we went through is nothing compared to that of people suffering with cancer”.

Over the summer the next challenges for Richard and Terry are four of the highest peaks in the Peak District, including Kinder Scout and Mam Tor. Their expedition will come to a close with their final challenge in early September, as they plan to complete The National Three Peaks. A test of endurance as they climb a total of 11,000 feet in just 24 hours, across the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

One in two of us will suffer with cancer in our lifetime, and many of us have experienced cancer in one way or another, if not ourselves then through our family and friends. As well as all the groundbreaking research that Cancer Research carry out, they also provide support to people living with cancer and while trying to find a cure they hope to help prolong those lives too.

Richard and Terry would appreciate any support you can give, please donate if you can at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mooreosteopathy
