Travelling by bus is now cheaper until the end of March 2023, thanks to a government funded Help for Households initiative.
The maximum single fare for any journey is now £2 across all NCT services and all trentbarton services except for red arrow. The £2 single between Derby and Nottingham can still used on the indigo or i4 services.
David Astill, NCT’s Managing Director said, “NCT already offers some of the lowest bus fares in Britain and we hope that this government funded fares initiative will encourage people to travel by bus, particularly those who haven’t returned since the pandemic”.
trentbarton managing director Jeff Counsell said: “We’d like more people to make a New Year’s resolution to use their cars less and public transport more.
“There are the obvious costs of running a car, including petrol at about £1.50 per litre and diesel at an eye-watering £1.75 or more. But there is also the wear and tear on costly things to replace such as tyres and brakes. Plus car parking charges for many.
