In summer 2021, I will be travelling with a group of students from Rushcliffe School to Tanzania with Camps International for a month of charitable project work and personal development.
Every project we work on will have a life changing impact on the local community. 40% of people in Tanzania live under the poverty line. Nearly half of the population live on less than $1 a day and the average life expectancy is just 55 years old. The projects we will undertake include education, housing, healthcare & sanitation, food & water security, wildlife conservation programmes and sustainable livelihoods (including making poo paper!).
We each need to fundraise £4,520 to help us finance the cost of the trip and to assist in all our humanitarian work.
I kick-started my fundraising campaign thanks to the support from Tollerton Primary School, whose Head teacher Mr Board kindly agreed for me to have a stall to sell homemade cookies, mince pies and sweets during the six Christmas school productions, and also Notts Gymnastics Academy during their Christmas Display. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, I raised a fantastic £290.00. Over the next 18 months, I plan to do stalls, markets, car boots, volunteering, car washing, work, raffles, t-shirt sponsorship and more!
