Local dancers impress in English Youth Ballet Company performance

15/08/2024 by Digital Media

Ballet dancers from Keyworth School of Theatre Dance (KSTD) wowed packed audiences with the prestigious English Youth Ballet company in ‘Giselle’ at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal.

After a successful audition in April and a rigorous rehearsal and training schedule, KSTD ballet dancers performed in ‘Giselle’ at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal on 19th and 20th July alongside other local talented dancers and professional dancers from the ballet company.

Ann Marchant, KSTD’s owner said: “To say we are proud of them is an understatement!”

Kirsty Callender, Ann’s daughter and co-principal of KSTD said: “I wish I had gone to see it twice! Once to follow just our pupils and again to watch the production. It was mesmerizing and stunning. We loved watching our pupils grow in confidence, skill and enthusiasm for ballet just in the short time they were training and rehearsing with EYB. They made lots of new friends and are keen to audition again in two years’ time when the English Youth Ballet company returns to Nottingham.”

KSTD continues to be a busy thriving school with a well-received performance at Keyworth Show in the main arena and summer examinations with International Dance Teachers’ Association. In addition, the teachers have started planning the next charity events with ‘cabaret’ style performances at Christmas and a big show in March 2026 to celebrate 50th year anniversary of KSTD.

Musical Theatre Workshops (MTW) will be hosting summer musical theatre workshops in the Rushcliffe area again this year, where KSTD /MTW members and their friends love spending their summer holidays making friends, having fun singing, dancing, acting, making crafts and performing to parents.

Keyworth School of Theatre Dance looks forward to a well-earned summer break and then meeting new KSTD pupils and their families in September.
