Local Club bowled over by Homebuilder’s sponsorship

10/02/2026 by Digital Media

Members of East Leake Bowls Club have been kitted out with brand-new shirts following a £500 contribution from housebuilder David Wilson Homes.

The donation from the homebuilder, which is based nearby at its development, The Skylarks, has contributed to the cost for the team’s shirts so the players can enjoy a fresh look in the new season.

Located on Gotham Road, the bowls club is a modern sports team with excellent playing facilities and a clubhouse. Some of the club’s players now live at David Wilson Homes’ development and the housebuilder’s partnership with the team is a key part of its investment in the local community.

Peter Widdowson, President of East Leake Bowls Club, said: “A big thanks to David Wilson Homes for the £500 sponsorship. This helped the club and its members greatly in purchasing our new club shirts to celebrate our Golden Jubilee.

“We hope this partnership continues for many seasons as, being a small local sports club, sponsorships like this help us to exist and continue to provide an excellent facility, which can be enjoyed by all, from the absolute beginner to national champions.”

The club hosts a range of fixtures for both the men and ladies’ teams and has a full programme of bowls and social events. There is a warm welcome at open sessions on Monday evenings during the season for anyone interested in joining the club.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are thrilled to support East Leake Bowls Club and contribute to the new shirts for its players.

“As a leading housebuilder, we see it as our responsibility to support local groups and organisations within the communities we build and we are pleased to partner with a club that’s a fantastic hub for socialisation and exercise in the village.”
