Over the last few months, Good Companions has continued to be busy with its’ five weekly Friendship groups (at Silverdale, Parkgate and Clifton Community Centres, Rivergreen Methodist Hub and Simone Gardens), Home Visiting and Phone Befriending.
It has also been enjoying a wide range of social activities including a Quiz and Fish & Chip supper evening, a visit to the pantomime and two Christmas parties as well as monthly trips to a local pub for lunch. You may also have seen us at the Clifton Christmas lights switch-on with our stall selling raffle tickets, Christmas decorations and gifts as part of our local fundraising, or at our Health and Wellbeing event at Clifton Community Centre in November.
In September, we were very pleased to welcome Allan Breeton as the Vice Chair for Good Companions, who has much to offer our charity with his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Many thanks to those of you who have supported us in a variety of ways – whether buying raffle tickets; attending our social, fundraising events; or making a donation. We are also very grateful to the many local organisations and businesses who support us, not only with donations but with prizes for our raffles and tombolas and other goods. Many also take one of our ‘Keep the Change’ donation collection boxes – please do look out for them in your local shops and drop in any change you may have – thank you. Of course, we would not be able to function without our hardworking volunteers and co-ordinators.
If you are considering volunteering in the future, please do contact Good Companions on 0115 878 6182 or email [email protected] for further information or take a look at our website www.goodcompanions.org
You are always welcome to come along to one of our Friendship groups to see what we do as well as meeting other volunteers.
