Members of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire had a roar-some time during their recent sleepover at Wollaton Hall.
Over 80 members of Guide and Ranger sections, all aged 13 years and over, along with over 20 adult volunteers, took the opportunity to spend the night at “Batman’s House”, seeing the historical house from a different angle.
To start the evening, the members played a game of Cluedo using the actual rooms across the three floors of the hall. Then they had a traditional guiding campfire outside before choosing their spot for the night, including the Fish Room, the Bird Room and the Fossil Room. However, by far the most popular room was the Titus Room, where the members had the opportunity to sleep in the same room as the only real T-Rex skeleton on display in the UK.
Many of the girls described their experience as “awesome!”. Ranger Abigail said “’It has been great fun meeting new people and playing Cluedo, we got to explore the whole hall and sleep with the dinosaur.”
Head volunteer Hilary said “It was great to see girls from all walks of life come together, having fun, making new friends and to have an adventure not many get to have.”
Girlguiding Nottinghamshire supports and encourages girls of all ages and abilities to get the most out of life, and enquiries about membership and volunteering opportunities are always welcome.
