From karaoke to recording two Christmas songs for charity!

15/01/2024 by Digital Media

In the summer of 2023, The Boat and Horses pub in Beeston Rylands held a Karaoke Competition, where locals came together and sang the night away.

The event was a huge success, so much so, landlady Jackie Hanson decided to keep it going!

Over the following months, the locals continued to gather on a weekly basis. The camaraderie between the group becoming stronger and the joy that came with it was infectious.

It was then decided, the group should look to raise money for the local charity, Forever Stars, who are dedicated to supporting families who’ve suffered a stillbirth or infant loss.

Pushing themselves out of their comfort zone, a group of 10 from the newly named ‘They Should Be Band’ travelled to Mansfield, where they’ve recorded two well-known Christmas Singles: ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ and ‘Fairytale of New York.’

These songs can be found on Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube. Simply search for ‘They Should be Band’.

Landlady Jackie Henson said: “I am so very proud of their achievement. It’s not something they would never have done previously, I can’t express how amazing they all are! They’re just a group of local residents, they are not singers, they are just neighbours and Rylands residents!”
