A group of 50 teachers from schools across France visited Nottingham recently with a mission to discover what Nottingham has to offer it’s school children and they were suitably impressed.
Nottingham Host Families and Robin Hood aka Ezekial Bone have been working together to promote Nottingham abroad with the intention of attracting more overseas school groups to the city.
With school children abroad learning about the history of English Kings & Queens, the Industrial revolution and English language itself, Nottingham has a lot to offer and inspire young minds so what better place to visit than our own fine city.
The school teachers visit was put together by Edward Hisbergues, Director of PG Trips, one of France’s most respected School travel specialists.
Edward said “We wanted a new destination to offer the schools in France, somewhere exceptional which would inspire the teachers and children. We had heard about Nottingham and Carl & I had worked together on the passport and visa issue as a consequence of Brexit, lobbying the UK Home Office to allow school trips to continue using the list of travellers system. We both recognised that our core values for trust and integrity would make a great partnership. Our trip has been a great success. The teachers loved their experience of Nottingham so much and want to bring their school groups to experience what they have experienced this week.”
Robin Hood himself gave the teachers an introduction to the history and city of Nottingham by taking them on his renowned Town Tour which they said was one of the best guided tours they have experienced in all the years of organising their school trips.
This was followed by a visit to the City of Caves, The Galleries of Justice and of course no trip to Nottingham would be complete without visiting England’s two oldest pubs The Olde Trip to Jerusalem and The Bell Inn.
During the 4 day trip the group of teachers also visited Lincoln Castle, the Magna Carta and Cathedral, Richard III and the Space Centre in Leicester, The colleges in Cambridge and Bletchley Park for the codebreaker attraction.
Edward gave great thanks to Leonardo Hotel for their accommodation and to Asda West Bridgford for supporting this trip with coach parking.
