First cut made at new £875K Pavilion on Costock Road

03/02/2022 by Digital Media

Work has commenced on the new Sports Pavilion on Costock Road, worth around £875K, following a ‘ceremonial ground-breaking’ involving some of our Councillors.

Funding for this project has been achieved by way of a grant from the Premier League, The Football Association, and Government via the Foundation, and some funding through Section 106 which has been allocated to recreation by developers of the housing in the village.

There is a shortfall in funds, and it is hoped that the fundraising, which is taking place over the next few months, will overcome this, and will cover the internal fixtures and fittings. The East Leake Playing Fields Charity have launched a “Buy a Brick’ scheme, which allows sponsors to contribute in a very special way, and really become part of this project.

By sponsoring the charity through buying a brick for £40.00 you will be helping to build the future of the Village. Many people have enjoyed playing sport at Costock Road over the years – what better way to show your happy memories of the past and your support for the future generations of East Leake players than buying a brick with a loved one’s name or your family’s name on it? For more information visit https://eastleakepavilion.org.uk/buy-a-brick/.

The new single storey pavilion will provide modern facilities including changing rooms, showers, toilets, kitchen with bar area, and two club rooms both with disabled access which we hope will give opportunity to a wide variety of indoor uses. The playing fields currently consist of football pitches , a rugby field  and a cricket pitch  which are heavily used every week for either games or training, plus archery and dog training.

All involved in these local sports will be able to benefit from the excellent new facilities.

Full details of the project can be found on the pavilion’s dedicated website:  https://eastleakepavilion.org.uk/
