This half-term has seen the introduction of the brand-new Milford ‘Eco-Leaders’!
Energy saving and protecting our environment is high on the agenda of everyone in the world but it is something we have noticed could be greatly improved in our school. After learning about climate change in Assembly, Key Stage 2 children were asked if they wanted to apply to become Eco-Leaders. After receiving over 70 applications, the lucky 12 were chosen.
The first act for the group was to work with the NET Tram group, and support a litter picking operation in the local community around the tram tracks. The children were absolutely fantastic and a credit to the school (they also collected nearly 4 full bin bags of rubbish!)
Each Eco-Leader now litter picks around the school site during one of their break times, with some of our older children tasked with ensuring we are preserving as much energy as possible by opening blinds and switching off lights in the morning and at the end of the school day.
