There’s a real buzz around East Leake as the village’s rugby club celebrates a remarkable season and sets its sights firmly on the future.

East Leake Rugby Club has enjoyed a superb unbeaten league campaign, showcasing not only the talent within the squad but also the strength of the club’s culture, teamwork, and determination. Week after week, the team delivered performances full of grit, flair and togetherness, earning promotion and the exciting challenge of stepping up into Counties 3 for the 2026/27 season.
But while success on the pitch is worth celebrating, it’s the continued growth of the club off it that is just as impressive.
Proudly village-based, East Leake RFC has built a reputation as a friendly, inclusive and welcoming club where anyone can get involved—whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to the game. The club’s ethos is simple: rugby for all, with enjoyment, development and community at its heart.
With both a First Team and a Development Team in place, players of all abilities are given the opportunity to play competitive rugby, improve their skills and be part of a supportive and ambitious environment. Behind the scenes, an experienced coaching group works closely with players, helping each individual develop and reach their potential.
The club is also fortunate to boast its own pitch and a thriving social scene, making it a hub for both rugby and community life in the village.
As attention now turns to the new season, East Leake RFC is actively recruiting new players and volunteers to join its growing rugby family. With pre-season training and a full programme of social activities planned from June through to August, there’s never been a better time to get involved.
Whether you’re looking to return to rugby, try something new, or simply become part of a welcoming local club, East Leake RFC would love to hear from you.
Training takes place every Wednesday at Costock Road Playing Fields from 6.30pm to 8.15pm. Come down to see what we are about or join us for a drink and a chat afterwards in The Nags Head.
