East Leake New Choir Success!

01/06/2023 by Digital Media

Monday 8th May saw the first ever gig for the newly launched East Leake Liberty Singers at the May Day Celebrations organised by the 2nd East Leake Scout Group.

A first public performance is always a big deal for a new choir. Formed in January 2023 at the Costock Road Pavilion, the 65 strong choir meet fortnightly and had pulled together 5 songs in just 8 rehearsals – mostly in 2/3 part harmony. Everything is taught by ear so there’s no need to read sheet music or have any previous choir experience. Instead, singers need to have a sense of humour, a love for singing and a willingness to be a part of the choir community.

The choir sang classics such as Chasing Cars, A Little Respect, Everybody’s Changing and Viva la Vida but the crowning glory for them as a beautiful rendition of The Rose/We Are Sailing arranged by Abi Moore which they took on acapella. Beautifully turned out in their new shiny t-shirts from Ruddington Print Solutions and designed by Paul Mitchell, we thought their first gig was a massive success!
