At East Leake Academy (ELA) part of Diverse Academies Trust, students have spread kindness through a series of initiatives to bring joy and support to those who need it most this Christmas.
As part of a reverse advent calendar initiative, East Leake Academy students collected and donated an impressive 480 items to The Hope Centre in Clifton, part of the Trussell Trust. This effort came at a critical time, as the centre had received no prior donations. The staff at The Hope Centre expressed their gratitude, sharing: “They have never had a school donate this amount!” The generous contributions will undoubtedly help families in need and make a difference this Christmas.
To help combat loneliness among older adults, students wrote letters to residents in care homes. These letters were delivered to Clifton View and Derbyshire House, where they were warmly received. Staff at Clifton View expressed their appreciation, saying: “This will make some of our residents’ Christmas.” In addition, students crafted an incredible total of 1,013 festive cards.
The staff at East Leake Academy are immensely proud of their students for their enthusiasm and generosity. Miss Bryan, who coordinated the initiative, will visit Clifton View in January to collect any responses from residents to share with the students. “This initiative has made a huge impact on our community, and our students should be so proud,” Miss Bryan shared. Long may this tradition of kindness continue!
