Lilian Greenwood MP was at Clifton Library on Saturday 11th September to present prizes to 3 excited winners of the Clifton and Wilford Summer Art Competition.
The organisers wanted to provide some entertainment for children over the summer holidays and children aged between 4 & 11 were invited to enter with a drawing/painting or collage using the general theme of ‘My Superhero’.
The winning entries included drawings of Superwoman from Daria Staneva (age 4), Dr Ranj (TV doctor) by Ava Hobday Dickinson (aged 8) and Marcus Rashford by Precious Whittaker (aged 11) – all pictured with Lilian.
Precious said she chose Marcus Rashford ‘for being a great football player and for helping so many people in this difficult time’.
Ava, who has been lucky enough to meet Dr. Ranj, and she chose him as her superhero as she is a big fan and hopes to be a doctor herself when she is older.
Daria has been researching online and working hard to develop her artistic skills, and she drew and coloured a really dynamic picture of Superwoman.
Lilian Greenwood said she was delighted to have been asked to present the prizes and that she was impressed by the quality and talent of the winners. She also thanked the staff at the Library for their help and support.
The competition was proudly sponsored by the local Clifton Labour Party branch.
