The Core Centre Charity, a vital community hub supporting Calverton and surrounding villages, received a generous £3,520.25 donation from the Ladies’ Team at Spring Water Golf Club.
Over the years, the golf club has consistently demonstrated its strong commitment to supporting local charities, and The Core Centre has been a key beneficiary, with the funds raised helping to further its invaluable work in the community.
The Centre, which plays a crucial role in supporting Calverton and surrounding villages with wellbeing, advice and support, expressed heartfelt gratitude for being selected as one of the charities championed by the club’s Lady Captain during the year.
In August, Sam and Becky from The Core Centre joined the Charity Day at the golf club, where they helped run the tombola and other fun activities. The event, which saw strong support from club members, raised much-needed funds for the charity. The Core Centre also had its own team of volunteers participate in a friendly round of golf, adding to the fun-filled day.
Sam and Becky were delighted with the event, saying: “It was a brilliant day – so many friendly people just wanting to help. We met some amazing new supporters, including a lady golfer who later volunteered her time to run a workshop at Core, creating beautiful Christmas wreaths. We can’t thank the ladies’ golf team enough for their support, you are all wonderful, and we know the funds will make a real difference in improving lives in the local community.”
Brenda Dixon (Captain) and Steph Jackson (Vice Captain) of the Ladies’ Team, reflected on the year with pride. They said: “It’s been an incredible year, and we are so proud of the amount we’ve raised. We’ve enjoyed working with these fantastic charities, and every member of the club has come together to make these events a success. We may be a small club, but our generosity speaks volumes. The club owners generously offer the course for free on charity day, which makes a huge difference!”
This donation marks another chapter in the strong relationship between Spring Water Golf Club and the local community, demonstrating the power of collaboration in making a positive impact. This year members raised a total of £14,081 shared between Young Lives vs Cancer, Prostate Cancer and The Core Centre.
Sam and Becky from The Core Centre would like to extend a warm invitation to any local businesses or organisations interested in supporting the charity’s mission.
