Burton Joyce hooked on local festive knitting projects

10/12/2020 by Digital Media

In December a group of local friendly knitters were hard at work creating more yarn critters to decorate the village of Burton Joyce on the lead up to Christmas.

Sally Fletcher-Titterton along with a ‘Wool Fairy’ friend and a young ‘Elf Helper’ have together knitted some incredible festive scenes to decorate post boxes in Burton Joyce.

Some scenes were even interactive and had battery powered lights which residents would turn on during the evenings.

The woollen postbox sculptures were received by locals with great praise, one person said, “Absolutely fantastic, Sally and the wool fairies brightening all our lives. Thank you so much”

Another individual said, “Your wool fairies are amazing, it’s so good and I love them! Thank you for cheering up Burton Joyce through this pandemic.”

You may have spotted other knitted and crochet creations around the village during the past year as Sally, as well as others, have been doing their bit to spread positivity by creating woollen characters and pieces to spread joy throughout a difficult year. Some items have even been sold to raise money for charity.
