Ballet success for local dancers

30/09/2024 by Digital Media

Young dancers from the Sandra Taylor School of Dance (STSD) in West Bridgford have been flying high on their path to dance success.

Several junior and advanced dancers recently successfully auditioned and performed in English Youth Ballet’s production of ‘Giselle’ at Nottingham Theatre Royal.

Grace Smithies, 17 (pictured left), danced a leading role in this haunting, romantic, but tragic Ballet, in which ghostly veiled spirits dance by moonlight, whilst younger STSD dancers Cleo Burbidge and Tanya George danced in the colourful village festival scenes.

Dancers Imogen Jury and Issie Harvey, both 15, (pictured right) recently spent a week at the prestigious Yorkshire Ballet Seminars, culminating in classical and contemporary performances. A fantastic opportunity, including visiting international guest teachers and principal dancers.

Earlier in the year Imogen danced the part of ‘young Snow White’ in Midland Theatre Ballet’s lavish production ‘Snow White’ at the Crescent Theatre Birmingham. Both Issie and Imogen were nominated for Theatre Dance Awards.

STSD will be celebrating its 45th year in 2025 with two shows at Nottingham Playhouse in March next year.
