A Thriving Community Theatre with Big Ambitions

13/06/2025 by Digital Media

One of the brightest stars in the local arts scene, the East Bridgford and Bingham Drama Group (EBBDG) has a proud tradition of bringing quality theatre to our community. With roots dating back to 1949, the group has steadily grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most respected amateur dramatic societies in the Rushcliffe area.

Originally known as East Bridgford Drama Group, the society was founded by a small band of enthusiasts who staged their first productions in the local village hall. Over the decades, they have built a solid reputation for excellence, presenting a diverse mix of drama, comedy, and thriller. Notable recent successes include A Pack of Lies and The Memory of Water, both of which played to enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim.

Now rebranded to reflect its expanding footprint, East Bridgford and Bingham Drama Group is extending a warm welcome to new members from Bingham and surrounding villages. The group is actively seeking actors, directors, and backstage crew – lighting, sound, costume, and set design – anyone over 18 with a passion for theatre and creativity.

To introduce newcomers to the group and its work, EBBDG is hosting two engaging free workshops this summer at the Bingham W.I. Hut, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm on:

  • Thursday 3rd July
    • Tuesday 22nd July

As well as a chance to have a go at some fun acting the technical team will be on hand to chat to those interested in lighting, sound and backstage work.

EBBDG isn’t just about rehearsals and performances; it’s also a vibrant social hub. Members enjoy regular play readings, theatre trips, and social evenings, making it a fantastic way to meet new people and share in the joy of storytelling.

Whether you’re an experienced performer, a complete beginner, or someone with a love for the magic behind the curtain, EBBDG offers a warm, inclusive environment where everyone can shine.

For more details, visit ebdg.co.uk where you can also reserve a space on a workshop and get in touch with the group.
