Sewa Day, a charity that promotes an act of kindness without expectation of return, is looking to distribute activity packs for upto 750 disadvantaged school children across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Many children are still in lockdown since March 2020 and have not been able to attend school. Disadvantaged pupils are less likely to be getting a home education and have a lack of access to printers. The idea behind these activity packs is to spread some joy amongst these children and promote social mobility. It also gives the children a chance to do something educational and constructive, away from devices.
The activity packs will contain a story book, a colouring or activity book with a set of crayons, colour pencils, arts and craft material. We also have glue sticks, scissors, card paper, chocolates and pavement chalk.
MP Darren Henry and Nadia Whittome will be helping to distribute some of the packs, which will go to 14 schools, a foodbank and a community group.
Hetvi Parekh, volunteer for Sewa Day says “We would really appreciate any donations towards the cost of these activity packs. All money will go directly into supplying the packs via various schools.”
“I thank the 15 Volunteers who have already spent 9 hours on the mammoth task of putting all the packs together. Our youngest volunteer was 12 years old and the eldest was 69 years old.”
